What it is

The coaching attention of personal training. The energy of a group class.

Small Group PT at Phenom is built for people who want to get seriously strong but haven't trained with a barbell before — or want a structured, coached environment to build from. Sessions are capped at six people, so your coach can actually watch your technique, adjust your loading, and make sure you're progressing week on week. You're not just following along. You're being coached.

  • Semi-private training Maximum 6 people per session means your coach knows your name, your lifts, and your weak points.

  • Progressive programming A structured 4-week block with intentional progression — not random workouts.

  • Personalised coaching Technique cues, loading adjustments, and real feedback every session.

  • Consistent schedule Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11:30am — same time every week so you can plan around it.

SCHEDULE

  • Tuesday — 11:30am, Phenom Gym, Cork

Adam Loughnane Strength Coach — Phenom Gym

Adam coaches strength athletes at all levels, from complete beginners picking up a barbell for the first time to competitive powerlifters stepping onto a national stage. His approach is precise, patient, and built around real progression — small technique adjustments, simple cues that stick, and loading that pushes without overwhelming. He won't tell you you're ready until you are, which is exactly why his athletes trust him when he does.

TESTIMONIALS

"Adam has helped me become a stronger and more efficient lifter. He makes little changes to your technique over time, in a way that isn't overwhelming. He didn't try to change everything at once. Simple cues, easy to follow, but very effective. He's an encouraging coach — but he doesn't do toxic positivity. So when Adam tells you a lift is good, you know you can take his word for it."

— Phenom PT member | Added 104.5kg to her total in under a year with Adam

"I walked into Phenom as a complete beginner at 39 years old, not really knowing what I was doing or whether I'd fit in. That feeling didn't last long. Adam is patient, knowledgeable, and he actually takes the time to make sure you understand what you're doing and why. Six months later, my deadlift has gone from barely lifting to over 170kg. Numbers I genuinely didn't think were possible for me."

FAQ

  • Do I need any experience to join? No experience needed. This class is built with beginners in mind — you'll learn proper technique from day one. If you've never touched a barbell, that's fine. Adam coaches you at your level.

  • Do I need to be a Phenom member to join? No. Small Group PT is open to non-members. You don't need an existing gym membership to sign up for the 4-week block.

  • What does the 4 weeks actually look like? Each block runs for 4 weeks with 2 sessions per week — 8 sessions in total. The programming is structured to progress week on week, building both strength and technique across the block.

  • What if I miss a session? Life happens. Reach out to us directly and we'll do our best to accommodate you. As sessions are capped at 6, we can't always guarantee a make-up slot, but we'll work with you where we can.

  • How is this different from a regular group class? Most group classes run 15-20+ people. Ours is capped at 6. That means your coach actually watches your lifts, corrects your technique in real time, and adjusts your loading to suit you — not the average of the room. It's the attention of personal training at a fraction of the cost.

  • What happens after the 4 weeks? Many people join Phenom as full members after their first block. You'll also have the option to sign up for the next round of Small Group PT. Either way, we'll make sure you know what your options are before the block ends.
